The BLM seems to ignore the laws regarding wild horses.
They continue to round up wild horses & burro’s for what seems like no reason. Unless you consider that the BLM wants the wild horses gone so they can rent the land to cattle farmers. This week they blame the horses for degrading the land. A few weeks ago they said the horses had no food, they have also had horses die from dehydration. Only problem is…there is food & water but, the BLM has allowed the cattle farmers (that rent the land) to place fences to keep the horses out. YES! They have fenced out the horses from water. I call that animal cruelty.
There is now an Injunction Filed to Fight Wild Horse Roundup. This video gives a few of the details.Injunction For Wild Horse Round Up
If you are interested in the BLM & what they are doing to “help” the wild horses you can see an I-Team special called Stampede to Oblivion by Chief Investigative Reporter George Knapp and Chief Photojournalist Matt Adams.
I will try to keep up on this topic as loosing all the wild horses would be a terrible thing. The more people informed about this tragedy the more likely something can be done to stop the BLM & cattle farmers from killing off a national treasure.
UPDATE 3/25/10
I just found out that the ITEAM won a Genesis Award in the category of TV DOCUMENTARY for their report Stampede to Oblivion.
