Looks like China has cracked down on animal abuse. Animals will no longer be used in circus acts, monkey fights, or sold so visitors can see them killed. Even baby animals will no longer have their teeth pulled so they can be used for photos with the public. Best yet…they can no longer serve rare animals in their restaurants or sell animal “parts” in their “gift” shop.
I read the story from the Telegraph titled China bans animal circuses and about croaked. I knew China had some very laxidaisy animal laws but, I never thought about some of the things mentioned in this article.
Monkeys with injuries from “monkey fighting shows”? Who has monkey fighting as a show for people to watch? Who are the people that would pay to watch?
People also pay to buy a live animal so it can be tossed in with big cats and killed. Yes, the big cats need to eat. I know that hunting and killing is part of their nature but, I am not going to watch it for entertainment.
Now, if I visit a zoo, I would expect to find a restaurant that sold hamburgers, hot dogs…maybe vendor type eats for corndogs and candy. I would not expect to sit down and eat yesterdays exhibit.
Customer “What happened to Louie the Lion? We always enjoyed seeing him on our visits”.
Waiter “Oh well it’s your lucky day. You can now have a piece of Louie to take with you. He is cooked in a nice Bearnaise sauce”.
It will be a shame that some animals will be put down because they have no where to go and are possibly in to bad of shape to be relocated. At least these will hopefully be the last animals that will endure this terrible treatment.
