The best way to teach kids about nature is to get out and let them see, touch, and enjoy it. You have a great chance to get out and enjoy a National Park this next week.

November 11 is Veterans Day and that means fees are waved to all the National Parks. What a wonderful break from your daily routine…just get out and breath in some fresh air. Kids will love getting to wander around picking up rocks, looking at plants, and keeping their eyes peeled for any wildlife that might be out.

Make sure you take a garbage bag so, all of your trash can be easily put in the bag and taken home (or placed in the parks bins). You will also want to pack your camera since you just never know what you might see. Depending on what type of animals live in your area, you may want to take something like pepper spray if you plan on hiking near bears or wild cats.

Now, get out and enjoy a wonderful park near you. Stay with your group and never wander off a trail.

You can find more info about National Parks at Free Entrance Days in the National Parks.
