A faithful Siberian Husky looses its life but, saves the mother, father, and their 3 kids in Montgomery, NY.
Saphira, the husky started barking at around 5am and woke up owner Chris Blake. Chris smelled smoke and was able to wake his wife and have her and the 3 kids (ages 7, 8, & 11) climb out a window onto an awning. Chris jumped down and his wife handed down each child. They were lucky to have had the warning. Because by the time they were awoke flames were already covering the doors and chance of escape was dwindling.
Chris also woke his neighbor who was able to climb out a window with her 2 dogs and 2 cats safely.
Sorry to say that their hero Saphira did not make it out. She and 2 cats were killed in the fire.
Below is a short video with the owner Chris Blake.
Well, not 2 minutes after I posted this I saw another story about pets in a fire and thought I would just add it here.
This story however has a really happy ending.
A firefighter responding to a fire in a SoHo apartment got his first lesson in doggy CPR. Apparently he passed the test with furry colors.
Just pop over to Firefighters Save Puppies From Burning SoHo Apartment, One Revived by CPR. They have a great story about firefighters saving the lives of a set of terrier parents and their litter of puppies. The pictures show some very cute and happy dogs.
This way, I haven’t left you with a totally bummed out day after loosing Saphira in the top story.
