Today Google announced that they will include Ocean markers & information in the Google Earth program.

Now, everyone with Google Earth will be able to learn more about the “blue parts”. They will include markers, video’s, narratives, & photo’s for learning more about the oceans & the wonders within them.

The announcement “Mission Blue: filling in the blanks…” states that they hope to help people become educated which will lead to caring.

We all know that it is much easier to see, film, talk about endangerment of animal life when it is on “ground level”. I hope that with Google Earth stepping in…more people will become aware of the problems faced by life in the ocean.

FYI – I have not gotten the New Google Earth yet so…I do not know exactly how much it shows or how fast they will be adding things. I am going to be checking it out as soon as I get this new computer lined up (yes, I had a PC melt down).

If you all check it out, please let us know what you think!
