I was sent a link yesterday to Help furry Friends that kind of freaked me out.
I had no idea that ANY County ran Animal Control still donated (or sold) unclaimed pets to Research labs.
I do not know what research dealers the Gratiot County Animal Control of Michigan, gives these animals to. I would guess anything to do with research on animals means death, possibly a miserable death.
I understand that many schools use dead animals for dissection in training. I would hope they are not just taking good healthy pets & putting them down. I also hope that these Vetrinarian schools don’t let students do test surgeries ‘just to see what happens’…They sure wouldn’t allow this to happen with people.
Other research facilities do product testing on animals that is horrific! The animals used are subjected to what I consider torturer. What if I took a person & said “Here, we are going to apply this to your skin. We know it will eat through & be terribly painfull but, I just want to see how deep it eats into your body. Oh, you over there…you’re going to drink this poison so, I can see what happens….”
I’d be thrown in jail & put in the electric chair.
Yet the Gratiot County Animal Control gives pets they take in to research if they are not claimed soon enough. If someone has surrendered an animal to them you MUST state that you do NOT want it given to a research facility if not adopted out.
If you are looking for a pet in the area for this shelter…please go save one of those animals from what could be torturer until death.
I also suggest that we all stop giving money to companies that use animals for research.
