Have you ever wanted to see a Red Tailed Hawk up close? Well, if you answered yes to that then I have a great answer for you.

There is a site called Urban Hawks. On this site you can find so many pictures and videos of Red Tailed Hawks from different places around New Your City and Central Park. They seem to have several different nest that they are watching. On the blog they have info, pictures, and video from birds located at Riverside, Fifth Ave, Washington Square and more.

Now they also have video of a very cute Eastern Screech Owl. Yes, there is something about owls that are just to cute. In the video I saw, the owl has made its self a very comfy knot hole to roost in.

Will you only see the birds on this site? No, they also have post about the concerns of protecting the animals. It seems that rodents gather in areas that have food concessions. Of course these hawks and owls will hunt these rodents but, the rodents are being poisoned. I understand that no one wants a mass of rodents running around but, how do they get rid of the problem without harming the hawks and owls?  The blogs author seems to still be working on an answer for that. I would bet that the Parks Department and store owners are more concerned with just killing the rodents than they are with protecting the birds.

The site also has a live cam but, it has been offline when I have been there. I have no idea if they have normal operating hours or have just experienced some outages and they happened when I was there. I know that outdoor cams have problems and are not always so easy to fix.

If nothing else go over and look at the pictures and videos, you will not be disappointed.
