Today in Las Vegas, Nevada there is a conference going on that sent shock waves through me. One photographer of the local channel 8 news referred to it as the “slaughter summit”.
It seems that some people want to bring Horse Slaughter back to the USA! In the video below you will see a short bit of info as a lead in to the story that will be aired at 4 and 5 pm PST on http://www.8newsnow.com/ (They may have the news live streamed). Bureau of Land Management (BLM) chief Robert Abbey is expected to address a conference organized by groups that want to revive the nation’s shuttered horse slaughter industry.
I also saw a tweet go through from another Las Vegas station that is also at the conference but, I have no info as to if and when they will broadcast their report. (Update at 1:42pm) I see that Channel 3 is at the conference and has a little info on their site at Las Vegas summit advocates return to horses as food.
Seeing that the BLM is there really freaks me out. They have already been suspected of selling wild horses to slaughter houses. They also have more horses in corrals than they can handle. Will they be looking at setting up away they can sell the horses they gather off the range? It would put more money in their pockets. Heck, will they advise their friends to build or buy stock in the horse slaughter business?
Nope, I don’t have much faith in the BLM.

Update at 3:55 pm – 8 New Now just made a post stating that yes people want to open slaughter houses for horses in the USA. Where were they looking? At the wild horses. It “seems” the BLM is not really on the side of slaughter but, I wouldn’t put it past them just smiling as they try to please people while they really are trying to figure out a way to pass this and make money for themselves at the cost of our wild horses. I just can’t believe that the BLM would stoop so low as to even lean to the need for something to be done because of their BS stats of “over population”. I just found another Las Vegas news station has put out a story about the Horse Slaughter Convention. KTNV channel 13 report is at Summit proposes regulated horse meat processing in U.S.

George Knapp is a huge asset to those of us following the BLM and wild horses. A search just on our site here you will find we love him and all he does to bring out the truth. You can see those stories HERE. As soon as they put up the story he did tonight about the horse slaughter, I will post it here. He brings up the fact that Americans may never approve of horse slaughter so, ranchers may look to the Native Americans to open a plant where they can sell and process horse meat without the American people being involved. This means they will push how tribes could make money from the slaughtering of horses and sales over seas.
