What does the Houston Rockets have to do with animal abuse?
Well, the owner of the Rockets, Les Alexander is pushing for a new bill that will put convicted animal abusers on a list just like sex offenders are.
This new bill will also have the support of 4 law makers, Democratic Senate Criminal Justice Committee Chairman John Whitmire, Republican Sen. Joan Huffman, Democratic Rep. Senfronia Thompson and Republican Rep. Beverly Woolley.
It sounds like it will have some push behind it. Although there is also some outspoken opposition. The oppositions seems to think it would be a continued punishment even after the abuser was punished by the courts.
Do you think a list is a good or bad thing? And should it be applied to the elderly lady that just couldn’t take of her animals anymore? I think they need a line for intentional abuse if they are going to do this.
They are also looking at another form of a Puppy Mill bill. A similar bill was tried and had opposition but, some of those same people have now helped refine the bill and are helping get it through.
