The Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland is still spewing ash. It means that their is a growing threat to animals that live where the ash is falling.
Most people do not ever think of fluorosis in animals. Fluorosis is fluoride poisoning, it is a huge health problem for humans and animals. It has been reported that livestock with fluorosis have stiffness and inflamed leg joints, dental fluorosis (brittle or pitted teeth),
osteosclerosis, osteonecrosis and bone deformations, low milk production, birth defects…
In the article Toxic ash threatens Iceland animals you can read what the concerns are for the animals in the Eyjafjallajokull volcano area.
If you want to see some pictures of the ash visit Iceland Volcano Pictures People, animals, and ash.
I know that the huge man made mess with the Gulf Oil Spill has kind of diverted our attention away from the people and animals dealing with the volcano. We just can’t forget that animals everywhere need our good thoughts, hopes, prayers….
If you are looking for some more information see the good sized thread, about the History and Dangers of Fluoride. They have several links and a few video’s and books. Not all of the info may be directly talking about fluoride in animals but, since humans are animals it will all apply when we talk about the toxic waste as a poison.
