A killer whale named Sumar mysteriously dies at Sea World in San Diego on Tuesday.

This poor whale had lived his entire life in a tank, never knowing what it was like to swim in the wide open seas. His 12 years were spent having people watch him do tricks, eat, and be what a captive whale is….probably board out of his mind.

How do you feel about whales being held in places like Sea World?
Do you think they are a good way to educate or bring awareness to their species?

Maybe you love going to these types of shows because you would never get to see them in the wild. They are huge (this whale was 15′ long and weighed 5,300 pound) wonderful animals for sure. They are also very smart so, I understand why people would want to see them.
Some places that hold captive whales have also done amazing things in researching how to help the species so, is it worth having a few captive to possibly saving them at some point?

Ok, you run the world so, what would you do for the whales?
Well, you don’t really run the world but you do have a chance to leave a comment and let others know your ideas (please keep it family friendly).
