Looks like the animal lovers in Clatsop County Oregon have made progress in banning circus wild animal acts. They have by no means won the war but they have won a battle.

This May voters will get to vote as to if they allow wild animals to be used in circus acts that come to their county. Hopefully the voters will put a stop to the cruelty that circus animals endure. While it will not stop it in its entirety…it will give circus 1 less county to visit. The only way to stop traveling shows from animal cruelty is to hit them in their wallet. If they can no longer pull in money by torturing animals then they should eventually stop. I know that may be seen as a pipe dream but we can all push in our own areas to help.

The ban in Clatsop County will NOT stop the use of animals in 4H, educational animals or rodeos. As far as the 4H goes, I am not worried so much about those animals. The kids I knew in 4H took better care of their animals than most people do their kids. The rodeos I think will be an issue that will take a very long time to deal with.

If you would like to see a “National News Story” about the upcoming vote and what the Vice President of Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus has to say, then visit Future of circuses with animals on county ballot.

Does your area still allow wild animal acts?
Would even go to a circus that had wild animal acts?
