At the top of the animal news links is plenty of people hating on Sarah Palin. Most feel her hunting of animals is not out of need to sustain life but, that she just gets an ego boost from killing something. Since there are so many stories about her killing a moose on her TV show, I am pretty sure you have heard and read about it. If you haven’t seen any of the rants, you can visit In Her Defense, I’m Sure the Moose Had It Coming to see a bit about it. There are already almost 7,000 comments on the story…apparently people have alot to say about the “Presidential Hopeful”. I to have a lot to say about her and that is why I will leave this section of my post where it is at.

You would think that celebrities would learn that if you are going to go hunting and kill animals, you had better have a good reason other than a photo op. Heck look what wrath Country Music Singer Troy Gentry has faced after killing a tame pet bear. I’d guess that he wishes he had either not been involved, that it was not public, or that he could crawl off into a very deep hole and hide. I’ll just add that killing a tame bear is probably not the ego boost Troy Gentry was looking for. Big bad bear hunter was put down to the award of scumbag killer.

So, it kind of amazed me today when I was sent a link to yet 2 more country music stars being put out for killing animals and supporting a “sport” where animals are abused for entertainment. The group SHARK (SHowing Animals Respect & Kindness) has put out a video of Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton out hunting alligators. I am not sure when they went on this alligator hunt but, the video below was posted on YouTube on November 6, 2010. As you will hear, Miranda is setting up an animal shelter and claims to love animals but, she doesn’t seem to have much compassion for that gator that she refers to as her new jacket. As an FYI, I don’t know if this gator hunting is on a gator farm or just out in the wild or if that even makes a difference.

Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton Kill Animals

If you just watched the video then you may or may not agree with the idea behind it.
I know that people hunt, that is fine BUT, to hunt for the thrill of killing something is what I do not understand. I also do not understand rodeo’s at all. Both of these activities seem to be more about showing superiority over another animal. Kind of like a bully pushing around a smaller kid or a large man shoving around a physically weaker woman. I’m sure some of you will not agree with me or the SHARK group and I bet you will voice that in the comment section.

So, do you think some celebrities are trying to make a name for themselves with the Good ol Boys or are they just looking to gain attention from anyone they can? They obviously could go hunting without the pictures.
