This animal article almost made me happy. Well, not the circumstances leading up to the article but rather the outcome.
In New York a man was sentenced to 2 years in prison and also a $30,000 fine for animal cruelty. Attorneys also want him to pay restitution for the care of the animals rescued. He is also facing problems with the New York Horse Racing board for licensing.
Mr. Earnie Paragallo was charged in April of 2009 for the mis treatment of 177 horses at his farm called Center Brook. The investigators said the horses were starving and covered in parasites.
What is odd is the man has been a active member in horse racing for 20 years. He can’t say that he didn’t know how to care for horses nor can he say that he couldn’t afford the horses. He has made over $20 million in winning from racing them. This man also has an education, he was a Wall Street executive. But, he did work for Goldman Sachs Group so, maybe he thought he was above the law?
You can read the full article at Horse breeder Paragallo jailed for animal cruelty and decide if you think this situation was caused by greed, ignorance, or lack of “give a $***” for animals.
I kind of think the guy has no excuse. He also has plenty of money to back him up so, lets hope he can’t buy his way out of this.
