US Global Exotics in Arlington, Texas was shut down on Tuesday.
Texas SPCA workers went in and removed 22,000 exotic pets. They expect the total of animals recovered to be as high as 30,000. The animals being removed include lizards, snakes, turtles, & Chinchillas.
As of the time of the post, Thousands of exotic animals found overcrowded, underfed in Arlington, SPCA had not said what was the cause of the raid. Yet, the video explains that they found many dead animals, some of the animals had turned to cannibalism, some dead animals were found packed in boxes as if they were meant to be shipped & just never left.
For the live animals, the Texas SPCA has been contacting zoo’s & rescue groups to help take some of the animals.
I am sure most places are not set up to take on that many exotic pets at one time. It’s a shame that this pet supplier continued to buy or breed animals that they could not take care of.
