The Lied Animal Shelter in Las Vegas, Nevada got an unexpected Christmas gift. In fact over 35 dogs there got a boost for their new owners.
An anonymous donor paid the adoption fees for 35 precious pups. He/she did not want to adopt all these dogs, they were simply paying the fee so when a furever family picked the pup they wanted in their family…all fees were paid.
It seems that even the employees did not know which dogs had their fees paid until the paper work was all finished. This way people adopted a dog that was a good fit rather than a dog with no fee.
How are even more families getting their new family without fees?
It seems that some of the new owners of the 35 “free” dogs, Paid it forward. They took the money they saved & paid for another dog in the shelter. When that pup was picked…the new family got told the fee had been paid. This could continue on endlessly.
When I saw the story Anonymous Donor Surprises Lied Animal Adopters I thought it was a great idea. What if more people thought of paying it forward like this?
If we all went to our local shelter, picked out an animal & paid their adoption fee with no expectations other than knowing a family has a new member & you were part of it.
Some shelters may let you donate things like litter boxes, blankets, collars, leashes…for the new family to have.
I’m sure we can think of a million ways to help out our furry friends.
