While reading through animal news today I found a story bout the decline of Pink Dolphins in Hong Kong. Although I think pink dolphins are amazing, I realized that we have not posted a story about them in over a year. My bad! Maybe I should get myself a plush pink dolphin to set by my computer and remind me to look in on how the real ones are doing?

Pink dolphins are so rare that many people may never get to see one in real life. At the rate things are going…there may not be any left for anyone to see. It would be a shame if our grandchildren would have to see video footage and hear stories of a creature that WAS.

Here is a video from CNN where Kristie Lu Stout is talking to conservationist that are working to safe this very special animal. She mentions the Pearl River Delta were there may only be 2,550 pink dolphins left…that numbers could easily drop.

I want you to listen for the part where Janet Walker says how much untreated sewage is dumped into the ocean. Yes, the ocean that all of these animals call home. There is no escape for them, they can’t just get out of the water.

I will try to watch for more stories about the pink dolphins. Since many times I rely on people sending me links to animal news…if you see a great animal story send me a Tweet to (@Anipalinfo) it. I am always interested to see the articles that others find interesting.
