A man in Port St. Lucie, Florida was arrested for feeding alligators in his backyard.
This is another case where humans may think hey are helping these wild animals by giving them food but, it actually puts the animal & humans in much danger.

The other day I posted an animal story of Humans feeding bears in the Smokey Mountains. That story does not end well for the bear but, luckily only 1 person ended up getting hurt. This all happened because people didn’t think about the fact that the wild animal will associate food with humans…the animal then gets to friendly with people. Wild animals are to have a natural fear of humans (it keeps both safer).

In the case of the Florida man, neighbors had reported (o the State Wildlife Officers) the man was feeding the gators. I’m sure they didn’t want these animals coming into their backyards looking for food.

While the officers were watching the man man fed hotdogs to a 6′ alligator that had come into the yard. This lead officials to catch the gator and euthanize it. The state law is that any gator over 4′ that is considered a nuisance must be killed.

Just a case of people not thinking that wild animals are not pets. They should be left alone. Don’t feed the big (possibly dangerous) bears (or any other wild animal).
