Today a contracted diver got a big surprise as he was just doing his job gathering water samples in Silver Springs Wild Water Park…he got attacked by an alligator.

This was not just a little gator. This was an 11.5 foot 525 pound gator. The diver is in serious condition having been bitten in the head, neck, and also has a fractured jaw. The alligator is not so lucky…he was shot and killed.
A person from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation seemed to think this particular gator was being feed by people. The gator did not seem to have fear of people and seemed to “not have to work to hard for his food”.

Silver Springs is known to have gators. In fact that is why it is an amusement or park type area. They give visitors a close up look at gators with tours on glass bottom boats.

The diver has worked in the area many times and his boss said he is very cautious. The divers are to never get in the water if they see one in the area. Apparently this huge gator was under the pier or boats near the dock.

You can see the video from CF News 13 at The man attacked by a nearly 12-foot

People! It is illegal to feed wild animals in most states. Not long ago there was a bear that bit a person after having been feed by humans…Bear Gets Death Penalty in Smoky Mountains National Park. Another story of a human feeding an alligator…Port St. Lucie man gets arrested & Alligator gets Death.

There are so many of these stories each year where the humans are the cause for the problem. These wild animals can’t read the laws. They have no idea that if they eat the food or become friendly that they will be killed.
