Schools out for summer in most places around the USA. That means that someone has the job of cleaning out all the lockers that kids have stored books, notebooks, pens….and yes, probably some very odd things as well. When I say odd, I am sure that janitors are used to seeing things in lockers that would be odd to most parents. Yet, sometimes even janitors are shocked with their finds as they pull you name stuff out of the back corners.
Today’s animal story is just that…a custodian (Ed Reardon) at North High School in Newton, Massachusetts pulled out a buried treasure that was unique enough to be a news story. He just happened upon a 1.5′ – 3′ long Ball Python. I’m not sure how long the snake was because different stories have posted different sizes. It was just left in a school locker. Thank goodness Mr. Reardon is the one that found it…had it been me…they would have had to clean up the mess I made.
You can see the details of this at Python Found in empty locker.
I would bet that the student that left the snake there did it as a prank??? Thinking that the snake would scare the crap out of who ever found it.
Maybe the kid was afraid to take it home because his parents had no idea he had it?
Sure there is also the chance that the kid just forgot that he had a ball python in his locker!
No matter what the reason was, it still was stupid. I am NOT a snake fan but, leaving the poor thing in a closed locker with no food or water would mean there is a good chance the snake would die.
When an animal gets hurt or killed…that is NOT a prank, it’s animal cruelty.
