As I searched for news about animals today I came across more information about animals dieing at the Surabaya Zoo. This is a zoo where a number of animals have died in just a short time.
In just a few weeks, the zoo in the capital of East Java has seen a number of animals die, including a Sumatran tiger, an African lion, a Komodo lizard, a babirusa cub, a wallaby, a Bawean deer and several birds.
They are now looking into neglect of the animals from the zoo keepers as a cause of the deaths. You can see the full animal news story at ‘Negligence’ Killed Zoo Animals in Surabaya. They also have links on the side that will lead to the other news about this zoo and the deaths happening there.
I just wonder why anyone (city, town…) would have a zoo if they are not going to take proper care of the animals?
If it is a matter of cost, you may wonder why they could not get the funds or possibly close the zoo and place the animal somewhere else that does have the ability to care for them.
Hmm, I just see money as the real issue here…anyone (a zoo) that really wanted the animals to be seen for education would have found a way to do that even if it meant giving the animals up.
