You may have seen pictures of a slow loris. They look so cute and cuddly but are they? They have those big round eyes and cute little button ears. When I look at them I think ooo, what cuddly lil guy, he looks about as dangerous as a lil stuffed monkey only funner because it really can swing from trees.
Did you know they secrete a toxin that can cause a whole lotta pain?
What kind of teeth do they have? Gee, seeing as how cute they are I never thought of them having something referred to as fangs.
Many of these cute primates are captured and sold as pets. Others are disappearing to to loss of their habitat. Some are even used as Asian Medicine.
Hey, when I think of primates, I normally think of them swinging through trees. The slow loris doesn’t do that!
How about the slender loris living mostly in rainforest of India.
They are almost as cute as the slow loris but, I think the fact that they have no hair on their ears just takes away a bit of the cuteness.
Did you know there are red and gray slender loris?
These loris’s are also used in a “medicine”. Yes, they trap and kill them for “medical purpose”.
There is also a Pygmy Slow Loris.
They can be found (if there are any left) in the tropical dry forests of Vietnam, Laos, China, and parts of Cambodia. Ok, they are really super cute! Don’t think I’d want one as a pet but, would love to see one in the wild.
They only weigh about 1 pound but, also secrete toxins to kill their prey.
Due to deforestation and pet trading these animals are also endangered.
Watch this video and then tell me this cute critter would cause anyone pain… I’d never believe it.
Their little hands are amazing. From the top they look like human baby hands & from the bottom they remind me of a tree frog (they have the wide spread pads).
I’m with you, I have never really thought of having a loris (or any kind of monkey) for a pet. Even though these are really small & cute it seems as if they could be dangerous. Probably better off left in the wild or with excerpts.
