Most people that have a pet worry if it is getting enough to eat but, it is easy to figure out. You put the food in a bowl and take note if the pet goes and eats it. If you have more than 1 pet then you may have to pay a bit more attention to make sure that 1 is not eating all the food while the other goes hungry.

Another issue pet owners have is getting a pet into a box or carry kennel so they can go to the vet. Now some animals are just no problem while others may give you a run around and then leave you a few scratches to remember them by. Still, most are no big deal.

What if your “pet” was a huge manta ray? They live in tanks with other marine animals and if the care taker just tossed food in they may never know who is really eating it. So, how do you make sure the right manta ray is getting all the appropriate food it needs to stay healthy? Well, that’s easy…you train them to eat from a ladle. Sounds crazy but it is true. And when you see how they do it you will fully understand.

In fact they use this training to also “lure” a big manta ray into the special stretcher for health checks.

If you jump over to Manta Ray Training Techniques, you will be able to read all about how the staff at Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia do this training and all the details involved. You will also be able to see some video of this magnificent animal being trained. I promise anyone interested in manta rays will think this is a cool article. Even if you are an animal lover in general you will like this inside look.

I personally will never have a manta for a pet. I just don’t think the neighbors would enjoy me using the community pool for its home. So, I will just stick with using my new found knowledge to train my Stuffed Plush Manta Ray how to follow a ladle. Oh, and that should be easy since 1 is a puppet and goes wherever we want. LOL@
