I am sure most of you have heard the news about Bab Parsons (CEO of GoDaddy) killing an elephant. The guy went as far as to “vacation” in Zimbabwe and gun down what he said was a “problem elephant”. In mid March he posted a video of the “hunt” to his website.

What was he thinking? Hello…get a clue Bob.

Anyway, as I said…I am sure most every animals lover from across the world heard the story, saw the video, and had something to say about it.

A competitor of GoDaddy is a company called Namecheap. They jumped right on the fact that many people do not want to spend their money to support more killing “vacations”. Namecheap sent out an offer for people to leave GoDaddy and move their domains to Namecheap. The offer gave a discount price for the transfer and namecheap would also make a $1 donation to Save the Elephants for each transfer made. ( You can see the original post we had on Facebook Namecheap Save The Elephants Offer ).

No need to go on with details of the original story.

People have been asking “How much money was made for the Save The Elephants group from the namecheap event?”

I have only found a Tweet by Namecheap to let us in on the numbers. It is GREAT!

It reads “Thank you Namecheap Customers, new and old. We have raised $20,433 to savetheelephants.org. We appreciate your support.

That is a huge amount for such a short time. It goes to show that people do value where their money is spent. People don’t want to support things they don’t agree with. If I had domain names at Godaddy, I would have moved them ASAP!

So no matter why people moved their domains, it is wonderful to see an animal organization get such a large donation!
