Most people think of seeing Wallabies only in Australia but, it become a common site in the UK.
According to an article I read, There are breeders of these animals in the UK. They had normally only sold wallabies to zoos and parks but, now people want them for pets. These animals are great at keeping the lawn trimmed and they also look cute. Breeders also want to see at least 2 at a time since wallabies are use to living in a group.
Right now there are a few wild wallabies in the UK that (depending on what story you read) were released by an owner or had escaped from a zoo and began breeding.

My concern is that bring in an animal such as this for people to have as pets could disrupt the natural environment. If the animals escape or people get tired of them and turn them loose will they populate and eat foliage that native species of animals need to survive?
If you don’t think that could happen….look at the Everglades in Florida. It is filled with non native animals that are killing of the ecosystem. They even have constrictor hunts because there are so many of these huge snakes breeding and eating other animals that are meant to keep balance.
So, what do you think of importing and selling of non native animals as pets?
