A story in today’s animal news brings up global warming, which I am not going to get into. I will however direct you to the story because it is about penguins.

If you knew me you would know that I love penguins. Not sure why as I have never lived anywhere they have but, it is just something about them that melts my heart. Heck we even did a video about them Emperor Penguins Facts with the Anipal Info Puppets.

So in the story over at MSNBC titled Antarctic penguin colony vanishes, warming to blame?, it talks about how researchers had been following a colony of Emperor Penguins that can no longer be found. They say in the article that they have no proof that the colony has died off. It could simply be that the penguins have just found another area.

I do believe that weather may be changing in some parts of the world. That means that these penguins may have a harder time finding the ice they need. I also think with change also comes loss of food. Their food situation could even be caused by a variety of changes that are happening far away and mey not have been thought to be bothering them. I mean, the oceans are huge but, could mass fishing in some areas cause that big of a food shortage far away? I would say yes. Once the balance of the ocean life gets screwed up…it’s a chain reaction.

So what do you think?
Where is this colony of Emperor penguins?
Did we over hunt 1 type of food and now other fish are feeding on the penguins even more?
Or do the penguins themselves have no food?
