You have probably heard the news about the teens that were attacked by a mother bear and her cub in Alaska this weekend, if not, there is a video below from CNN.
I hope the 4 boys that were seriously injured make a full recovery and use the experience for the better. I also hope that this incident doesn’t mean people will stop letting kids learn wilderness survival skills or just going out and enjoying nature. These bear attacks are not that common as most bears will do their best to stay away from you.
So do you think they should try and find the bear and her cub? The people were in the wilderness and that is where the bears live, they are also wild animals and have the right to defend their home and cubs.
Many people say that bear spray will not help if a bear is charging so what should groups of wilderness campers do to protect themselves? If your answer is have a gun…you better make sure you kill the bear with 1 shot or you may just piss it off & that is something you don’t want to do to a bear.
Should bears that harm people in the woods be treated differently than a bear that roams into a neighborhood? Or are people that build their homes near bears just out of luck because the property belonged to bears first?
Go ahead and let us know what you think in the comments section.
