You remember the movie “Fly Away Home”? Where a girl & her dad used ultralight aircraft to led a group of Canadian Geese south for the winter. It was a great movie that I thought was just made up. I figured that you could maybe teach a bird to fly by leading it in the air. I just did not think that people would really need to show them the migration route. I thought they would see other birds going & just join them. Guess not.

I came across the article Return of the cranes Apparently their is an Ultralight aircraft leading a flock of Whooping Cranes from Wisconsin to a wildlife refuge in Florida. They say the birds will spend the winter in Florida & then be able to return home to where they were raised in Wisconsin for the summer. Guess once the birds have ‘been there, done that’ they never forget their way.

I think this would be a real site to see.
