The hippopotamus is known to be really aggressive. These animals are the 3rd largest in the world. Hippo’s weigh about 3,000 pounds and older males can weigh up to 10,000 pounds. The strength of their bite is enough to do massive damage.

So you might expect to see other animals avoid being to close to a hippo and you would never think of an animal getting anywhere near the mouth.

Visitors to the Zurich Zoo may have been in shock when they saw a zebra walk right up to a hippo….they may have thought they were in for a terrible event when the zebra put its face right up in the hippo’s open mouth.

Well, visitors pulled out cameras (probably to snap a shot of the last day of life for that poor stupid zebra). Oh wait, that zebra wasn’t so stupid…he was making friends with that huge hippo (always remember that it is very hard to find floss or a toothbrush when you are a hippo). The zebra was doing a bit of teeth cleaning.

You can see a photo of the Zebra nose to nose with the dentally hygiene challenged Hippopotamus at Zebra snapped putting head in hippopotamus’s mouth

I wouldn’t put my face near most peoples mouth. I hope the hippo has better breath than some people I have been near.
